Presented is a handsome pair of antique Durgin sterling silver salt & pepper shakers. These shakers date to the late 1800s or early 1900s. The shakers are done in a lovely traditional form, with bold ram’s head mask decorations where the feet join the body. in keeping with this motif, each shaker’s three feet are done in a realistic hoof & leg form. The bodies of the shakers are beautifully hand chased with classical floral & foliate decoration. The shakers are very well made, & all the applied or chased decorations are detailed & crisp. Each shaker has a monogram of EDL in flowing script. The shakers are in great condition. The details of the designs are nice & crisp. The lids close securely. There are no splits, no dents, no monogram removals, & no repairs. Each shaker is stamped with the Durgin maker’s mark as well as sterling & the number 62. Each shaker is about 4 5/8 inches tall.
