This is a fabulous swanky set of five highly collectible Warhol era style pop art HJ Heinz can label (two tomato soup, two plain pork & bean & one green split pea) highball cocktail glasses designed & signed by Georges Briard circa 1960s. in 1962 Andy Warhol (both Andy Warhol & HJ Heinz chose Pittsburgh to stage their iconoclastic foundations) was a virtual unknown when he released his Campbell’s Tomato Soup showing in L.A. This showing propelled him to the forefront of the Pop Art movement of the 1960s. What Warhol was to the art world, Georges Briard mirrored in the world of barware & service ware in high end department stores such as Neiman Marcus. His designs continue to be highly sought after & command top dollar in today’s market nearly 70 years after his barware glasses first became available to consumers. These five highballs, featuring silk screens on both sides, are in excellent condition with no fading. The previous owner took care to hand wash these gems.
