“Field Moldavite” (B grade) specimen in the Czech Republic after the snow melts & the farmers begin to plow the land & freshly upturn the soil in their fields, Czech natives will go & look through the freshly turned soil to find moldavite, often times the Moldavite found in these kind of fields, has been through a natural sort of tumbling process, being so close to the surface & just being subject to the planets harshness prior to & then the plowing in the field over the years, rolling it around with the dirt & gravel, sometimes the machinery itself hitting & damaging the piece over the years. It ends up having a more smooth surface, the moldavites natural texture being mostly eroded away & it is left with many nicks & scars in it, as well as a generally matte appearance. Even though more pristine pieces can occasionally sometimes be found on the surface in fields, The Czech natives commonly refer to these matte & scared pieces with a smoother texture as “Field Moldavite”. (The Moldavite I have for sale listed as “B Grade” is less sought after material, because of the amount of damage on the individual pieces and/or is just not as aesthetically pleasing. As such, I am able to sell it at a lower price per gram than other Moldavite specimens.) Moldavite is the very first stone that I personally ever felt the energy of, the catalyst of my metamorphosis of my scientific fascination with stone, into my metaphysical journey with them. Moldavite is a Tektite, that is thought to have formed about 14.7 million years ago from a meteorite that is thought to have impacted at the Nördlinger Ries Crater in southern Germany. Splatters of the ground material that was melted by that impact cooled as they fell through the air landing mostly in what today is called the Czech Republic. It has been called “The Emerald that fell from the sky” & has been featured on the popular history channel television show “Ancient Aliens”.
