Awesome pair of early 20th century Cast Iron Hessian Soldier Andirons. It is thought that because Hessian soldiers, who fought against the Colonists during the American Revolution, were so disliked that the Americans enjoyed burning them in effigy in their fireplaces! Each andiron measures 19.5" tall, 9" wide, 21" deep & weighs a hefty 22 lbs. Very solid & well made, these andirons are used, rust covered & ready for a couple more centuries of service, please see photos as they are part of the description. 2785 Antique Cast Iron Hessian Soldier Figural Andirons/Heavy Duty Hearthware
