By the time he was 12 years old he was already acquainted with the fundamentals of making jewelry. At 15 he was commissioned to create a solid gold, jewel-studded halo for a cathedral Saint. When he was 17 he arrived in America & soon after opened a modest workshop in Boston Massachusetts. News spread that the Florentine artisan had great skill & imagination in creating new jewelry designs, & before long his creations attracted the attention of the most discerning buyers throughout the nation. For 35 years, until 1957, the address of the Cini label was Boston. His success & growth were based on the philosophy that, “In the world of mass production, everyone is hungry for the personal touch. When you are making something for the average person,” Cini stated, “you need to remember he is looking for something out of the ordinary…jewelry he can afford & which will reward him with a lasting touch of beauty & grace.” Through the years he designed pieces for celebrities in the United States & abroad, & supplied outstanding stores & jewelers throughout the nation. The setting of the world-famous seaside art colony of Laguna Beach, California was the workshop & headquarters for Guglielmo Cini from 1957 until 1979, when he passed away.
