This is a primitive Antique needlework sampler. This is framed & it measures 21 & three-quarter inches high by 15 inches wide. These were representative of the needlework skills of young girls in the 17 & 1800s. in looking through this piece you’ll see various stitches they did their ABCs & this one has a number of interesting symbols throughout. She has some baskets, crosses, chalices, an urn, A black dog,black monkey, church, Bird, Ram, Crown, flowers & a large piece that would have set on a church altar. After looking through this piece in detail you can see the crudeness of the base material & find the charm of the various things that were Representative of this child’s life. From the time period that we have now, going back to see the simplicity of what was life back then & the importance of religion in their lives. I am not a collector of these but I can truly appreciate why people love to collect them & find the historical significance in owning them.
