Presented is an amazing pair of Royal Crown Derby porcelain bud vases. These vases date to circa 1780-1815. The vases are done in a handsome triangular form, with classical ram’s head designs at each corner. The bodies of the vases are a rich cobalt blue, beautifully hand gilt with a design reminiscent of coral. Each side has an oval vignette featuring various colorful flowers, all fantastically hand painted with a great deal of detail & skill. Based on the interesting construction of these pieces (visible on the undersides, see tenth photo) these vases have a very respectable age to them. This pair of vases is in good overall condition. The rams’ heads have some chips/losses to the ears & horns, examples of this can be seen in the eighth & ninth photos. The gilding is in good shape overall, though there is some wear to the gilding on the rams’ heads. One of the vases has a break that has been repaired, visible in the seventh photo. There are no other breaks, no other chips, & no other repairs. The patch based construction visible on the undersides of the pieces is original to the making, & does not indicate a repair or flaw. Each vase is signed in red on the underside with the Royal Crown Derby mark, as well as the number 16 (also in red) & various incised marks. Each vase stands about 6 1/8 inches tall.
