Presented is a lovely pair of Victorian multi-colored gold earrings. These are American earrings, dating to around the 1850s. The earrings are done in a design of a bird & two leaves above a scallop shell holding a gold ‘pearl,’ with a little round dangle beneath. The leaves are done in green & rose gold, while the bird & shell are done in yellow gold, with the pearl & dangle in rose gold, for a nice contrast in colors. The leaves, shell, & bird are finely hand engraved & textured. The earrings have wires for wear with pierced ears. The earrings are in great condition. There are a couple of spots of solder on the back, likely from how the earrings were before having the wire tops added. The earrings are not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested each piece with nitric acid & guarantee that the top ball/hook portion is 14 karat gold while the rest is 10 karat gold. Each earring is about 2 1/4 inches long. The total weight for the pair is 6.1 grams. -jm C1850S Lovely Pair Victorian Multi Color Gold Scallop Shell Earrings
