Circa 1870’s Aesthetic Movement Victorian Fan, Exquisite & Very Finely Hand-Painted images of Delicate Blue Birds & Vivid Pink Flowers on the palest Celadon Green Silk. The Wood Splines of the Fan are Hand-Painted “Stippling” made to Replicate Bamboo, (a very rare treatment). This is a Large & Dramatic Piece, measures when opened 24 1/2" wide, 13 1/2" tall. This piece is in Amazing Condition with No shreds or tears in the silk, nor any breaks in the wood. There was a repair made at the outside base of the spline, due to a very short, minor break in the wood (a very early repair using a pinned metal plate). Clearly the original owner Loved this fan, to go to such effort to have this beautifully repaired this way. It is amazing & no doubt done by the “man who repaired fans” or perhaps even a jeweler of the period. This repair just adds character to the piece, & is a great example of skilled hand-workmanship of a bygone era. C1870’s Victorian Celedon Silk Hand-Painted Stippled Fan W/Blue Birds Aesthetic Mvmnt
