BC45-This necklace is made with a pendant that I have drilled front to back, attached a silver bail & a silver chain measuring approximately 18" in length with the large pendant measuring approximately 73mm X 40mm. This material is a natural stone formation that is a concretion of calcium carbonate,clay & very rich in silica. These particular stones that I make jewelry with are found in the Harricana River in Quebec, Canada. These magical minerals are mostly found in ancient glacier deposits within Canada, but can also be found in Scandinavia, Greenland, the British Isles, & Morocco. Fairy stones have been used as good luck & protection talismans for centuries amongst numerous diverse groups of people. It was common for many tribesmen in northern Canada to carry a Fairy Stone on them to promote wealth & prosperity throughout their families. Another common practice was gifting a piece to a loved one to help symbolize their bond, as well as handing off a bit of “luck”.
