• Presents key focal points of Dutch architect Hans Gugelot work The Dutch architect Hans Gugelot came to the Ulm College of Design in 1954. With his product designs, he contributed significantly to the success of this legendary university. In 1956, together with Dieter Rams, he developed the ‘SK 4’ radio set for the Braun company, which became an icon of West German post-war design as the ‘Scheewittchensarg’ (Snow White coffin). Hans Gugelot designed numerous industrial goods for leading manufacturers: razors, furniture, sewing machines, slide projectors, trains for local transport. He was involved in teaching at the HfG as well as in the establishment of the National Institute of Design, which now has three locations in India, and had a major impact on the development of the ‘industrial designer’ as a profession. This book deals with individual focal points of Gugelot’s work and at the same time describes the attitude to life and the living conditions of the design avant-garde in the young Federal Republic of Germany. Text in German.
