Called Moeurs Conjugales, this series cleverly & with humor portrayed scenes of marriage the good, the bad & the ugly. This print from 1968 in which Daumier’s lithographs were reproduced in stone by Alexis Manaranche & printed by the famous printers, Ram Press for Pantheon Books. This piece was illustrated by Daumier, Honore Daumier Artist initials in print - bottom left of image. Honore Daumier (1808-1879) was a French printmaker, caricaturist, painter & sculptor whose work touched on social & political life in France during the 19th century. Extremely prolific & very opinionated he started his career producing images for music publishers & illustrations for advertisements.
