I am very excited to introduce this beautiful Merino Wool/Silk Blend roving to the shop! This roving is 70% extra fine merino wool & 30% tussah silk. The merino is 19 microns, & the silk is combed sliver. Merino wool is a beautiful material to work with & is known for its softness & gentle sheen, & the silk in this blend gives it an extra lustrous look & feel. It has many uses in fiber & textile art such as needle felting, wet felting, nuno felting, spinning, weaving, & arm/giant knitting. This color is Brasil, a rich emerald green of varying shade & tints. This listing is for 1 oz., which is the amount shown in the photograph. Larger amounts in continuous lengths can be ordered upon request. The silk component in this blend adds a beautiful extra sheen, & I find it best suited for wet felted garments where the silk fibers get worked into the felted wool to make beautiful organic patterns. It also makes a lovely addition to wool paintings where highlights & a bit of sheen & luster are desired. It wet felts quickly & easily to a very smooth finish. If using in a more three-dimensional needle felted sculptural project, I recommend working with it as a light layer over a base of needle felting wool that has a bit more coarseness & crimp, such as my core wool batting or the other blended roving & batting available in my shop. This will allow the needle to grip more easily & the material to felt up faster. This fiber has been ethically sourced & is mulesing free. It is processed in Italy, & all dyes comply with the Oeko Tex Standard 100 parameters. Merino Wool/Silk Blend Roving in Brasil Green, Needle Felting, Wet Nuno Weaving, Arm Knitting, Chunky Yarn, Dhg
