She has studied the behaviors of animals with an artist’s eye & imagination. Her driving passion has been to capture the essence of the animals she chooses to depict in her artwork. As a self-taught sculptor, she has refined her skills as an artist for nearly a quarter of a century. It is her unique ability to capture the emotion of how we as the viewer feel about the animals she chooses to create, which has won her countless awards & critical acclaim. Her identification with the subject matter has led her to be one of the most widely collected wildlife artists working in the United States today. How is this sculpture made? This sculpture began as an original hand sculpted clay model by the artist. It was delivered to the Starlite Studios Foundry in California where skilled artisans sectioned it into a myriad of component parts for casting. A multitude of steps followed including hand tooling, metal plating, patina applications & extensive buffing. This process can take up to several weeks to complete. Like many of Starlite’s fine art mixed media sculptures. This piece is made from one or any combination of different materials. Including lost wax bronze, fine pewter, brass, copper, 24 karat gold vermeil & various hot torched acid patinas such as black nickel, rose copper, & turquoise, to highlight the sculpture. in addition, the sculpture may contain embellishments such as Lucite.
