Pins are graded into five categories: Collectors Grade/“Perfect” Regular/“Nearly Perfect” Minor Defects/“B Grade” Seconds/“Major Defects” D-Grade/“Severe Defects” Due to the hand made nature of enamel pins, most will have minor cosmetic flaws, such as surface scratches or dull spots & uneven enamel. The Minor Defects/B Grade pins have more noticeable cosmetic flaws, as well as possible low fill & specks in the enamel, surface scratches, metal plating discolorations and/or scratches, etc. Seconds/C-grade pins have very noticeable cosmetic flaws that can be seen when looking straight at the pin, & can include dust, spots, holes, low fill, overfill, scratches, missing enamel, & other flaws.
