Extremely rare original John Walker “Blended” Old Highland Special Whisky labels. This is a set that would have been used on the bottle of whisky. As these are over 100 years old they will have some damage which may include discoloration of gilding, curling, folds & edge wear. I have multiples of these labels & have tried to best document damage as show in photos. Largest label measures 1.6 x 3.6 inches. So here is the back story on these historical labels. in 1867 Johnnie Walker launched their first commercial blend called “Old Highland Whisky” & shortly there after designed the 20 slanted labels that iconized their product. By 1906 the company had expanded the line & had three blended whiskies in the market, Old Highland at 5 years old, Special Old Highland at 9 years old, & Extra Special Old Highland at 12 years old. The labeling was noted by the colors of their labels - white, red & black. in 1909, their line was rebranding based on the label colors to Johnnie Walker White Label, Johnnie Walker Red Label & Johnnie Walker Black Label. Based on that time line, & the Exhibition Award labeling mentioning the Christchurch 1907 award, these labels will date from 1907 or 1908.
