This is an antique Turkish Anatolian beaded belt from the Sivas area of central Turkey. The belt is decorated in wonderfully articulated floral designs including a Turkmen-like gul placed in a floral manner. The leaves on the stems of the flowers are arched in a rams horn-like shape. The arrangement is artful & notice the two roosters on either end of the belt looking inward closing off the piece & acting as guardians. It is backed by a strip of leather providing protection & strength to the piece when in use as a belt. The original buckle is no longer with the belt but has one added on later. The yellow ground color is rare & the workmanship exceptional. This was likely made a a special piece possibly for an important person in the community. -Sivas Glass beaded belt -Rare yellow ground -Wonderful ethnographic piece Sivas Area Turkish Glass Beaded Belt
