This is an amazing mid century hand thrown stoneware bowl & matching tumbler by ceramicist Chad Smith (both pieces initialed) in North Carolina circa 1980s. Both studio pieces are signed with the artists initials, CS. The bowl has a brilliant blue-green glazed inside & a grayish purple striped outer layer & an unfinished sandy brown bottom. The matching drinking vessel has the same grayish purple glaze on the inside & top & similarly unglazed on the bottom. This pair is just beautiful & I imagine a Japanese beer with a ramen & pork belly soup to be the ideal pairing for this duo. No damage, excellent condition.
