Dear reader, If you are reading this blurb, you may be asking yourself, What is a book called The Foster Care Rollercoaster all about? Well, as the title implies, this book is about foster care, particularly foster parenting, and the rollercoaster of emotions that come along with it. You see, this book is a collection of true events I recorded over my several decades-long experience as a foster parent. Inside you’ll learn about my family’s journey as we became an emergency receiving home to accept and care for children, sometimes for only a short while, sometimes for years, and others permanently as we adopted them into our own family. Every child came to us with a unique story. Many came to us with heart-wrenching tales of loss, abandonment, or abuse, but don’t worry! While many of the chapters will tug at your heartstrings, you’ll also experience the joy, humor, and love that came along with providing a safe and loving home, even if temporarily, to these foster children. I can’t promise that every child’s story has a happy ending—to be honest, many are bittersweet—but I can promise that this book will leave a lasting impression, just like every child I’ve fostered has left an impression on myself and my family that will never be forgotten.
