There has been considerable interest in recent years in composites based on blends of liquid crystalline polymers (LCPs) with thermoplastics. The use of LCPs as the minor phase of polymer blends has attracted considerable attention in the past two decades. This is because LCPs can improve the processability and mechanical properties of thermoplastics. Reinforcing effect arises from improved compatibility between the matrix and dispersed LCP phase. Enhancement in the degree of compatibility between the constituent components can be achieved by use of a compatibilizer. This book tells us to study the effect of compatibilizers on the properties of polymer blend systems. Blend compositions, compatibilizer types and contents, and filler contens were used as main parameters in the comparative study.
