A lavish pair of 18k yellow gold dangle earrings with ancient Masadonian coins & green aventurine accents. Each earring features an open circle bezel set coin, connected via a solid gold chain link to a small gemstone setting. The coins look like they’re from the classical period & feature depictions of Alexander The Great & illegible foreign text. Given their probable age, the coins have a heavy patina & bear noticeable wear to portions of the raised design, but these features are likely why the designer chose to use them. The discoloration pairs quite nicely with the translucent aventurine cabochons & the rich greens really pop against the polished yellow gold setting. We were unable to find hallmarks, but the earrings look very similar to pieces from Elizabeth Locke’s ancient coin collection. Perhaps they were made by a copycat artist, but regardless these earrings are expertly made with solid 18k gold & have been acid tested for authenticity. The earrings have some weight to them, approximately 12 grams each, & are secured with hinged lever backs. These beauties are in great aesthetic/functional condition & are sure to turn some heads. The gold has been acid tested for authenticity. Condition: Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear & discoloration.
