A geometric decorative prism stopper tops this antique 1920s Art Deco perfume or vanity bottle. The bottle is of cut crystal with hand decorated silver, black & red enamel geometric shapes, dots & scrollwork. It has a symmetrical design with angular facets. The bottle has a mix of clear & satin frosted sections for viewing the perfume or oil inside. The bottle has a prism faceted top with a matching silver mirrored triangle, black enameled design & ground stopper. I have recently acquired a large collection of similar pieces that were all originally purchased from Ultimo, a well-known boutique in Chicago that is no longer in existence. Some have their original retail labels on them marked, “Ultimo” with hand written description (such as this one). Many considered Ultimo to be the best store in the world. It was a truly an iconic place that set the world class standard for luxury shopping. Since Ultimo closed, many stores disappeared from is original Oak street location with many shutting down. Several of the pieces that came with this one are etched or marked with “Tcheco Slovaquie” (such as this one) which is French for “Czechoslovakia” (formerly Bohemia). This vintage glass piece is likely attributed to or inspired by Karl Palda (founded in 1888 in Haida, Nový Bor, Bohemia). Karl Palda was a well respected Art Deco glass manufacturer known for making geometric designed pieces such as decanters, decanter sets, vases, candlesticks, vanity sets, toilet sets & perfume bottles. The bottle measures approx. 4 5/8 inches tall with its stopper by 5 1/8 inches in diameter. The inside is pretty clean & the stopper fits nicely. The stopper has a few tiny flea bites to its edge. The bottle has a small rim nick to its lip edge & a few of the tiniest nicks around the body diameter edge. There are some expected fine scratches to the flat bottom. There may be other minor surface wear & loss or fading of black & red enamel & silver. Please see photos for condition. Overall, this piece is in very good antique condition for its age. Stone carat weights stated represent approximate weights which can vary by the limitations of measuring set gems. Due to the age, antique & vintage jewelry & sterling objects are often not perfect, & may have normal signs of surface wear, or small imperfections due to hand crafting or production in a long gone era rather than mass-manufactured nature.
