Fabulous mod collared cardigan in Arnel triacetate fibre printed in a psychedelic medley of muted pinks, mauve, blue, silver & gold with a silky sheen. Made in New Zealand by Glengyle in late 1960s to mid 1970s. Glengyle have been making high quality knitted garments since 1951, usually from pure New Zealand wool, so this cardigan is an unusual departure & very much a high fashion item of its day. The fibre Arnel was developed in 1954 , a Celanese acetate fibre it was a silk substitute that took well to being dyed bold colors. Cardigan has no faults. It is labeled Wx, (large womens ) 97cm ( 38"). It would have been designed to be close fitting. The duel measurements give an indication of its age as metric was introduced in the late 60s but legislation requiring it to be used on clothing was not in force for a decade. My measurements with it unstretched are: Bust under arms 42" Length from bottom of collar at back 25 " It is displayed on mannequin 31 1/2":24":34" Vintage New Zealand Arnel Printed Glengyle Collared Cardigan Pink Purple Psychedelic, Made In
