This is a very sweet vintage Pavlovo Posad silk & cotton blend shawl with a rather unusual print of roses & twigs. Its size is 59x59 inches (150x150 cm) & it has silk or rayon fringe. It combines the nobleness of silk & sturdiness of cotton, with a lovely soft sheen & beautiful folds. The fabric is rather heavy, not flimsy at all. The texture is slightly nubby, like raw silk indeed. This shawl is a fine example of Russian folk art, produced by the famous Pavlovo Posad Manufacture. They stopped producing silk blend & pure cotton shawls many years ago & you can only buy a vintage one now, which is a pity - these shawls are beautiful & comfortable. They are indispensable in the summer when you want to hide your shoulders from sun, or to protect yourself from an evening chill. For those who do not wear wool this is the best way to enjoy the beauty of a Russian shawl in a vegan option. You can use it as a shawl, a throw, a lap blanket, you can hang it on a wall - so many uses! The flower garlands are very bright & elegant. You will treasure it for years to come. PLEASE NOTE: The shawl is in good vintage condition. I believe the shawl may have been gently worn. There is slight discoloration & partial losses in the fringe. This fringe is also prone to tangling & unravelling. Please bear in mind that this is a vintage item & can have some defects from storage, or a slight scent of the wooden chest where it was stored.
