Astral is a heavenly blend of Alpaca, Tencel & Merino Wool that has a shine that doesn’t quit. Astral knits at 20-22 sts/4’’. Each 3.5 ounce (100g) skein is approximately 197 yards. There are currently 20 rich shades of Astral. As you can see from the pictures, I use this yarn frequently for many types of projects. It works up & handles beautifully, is a joy to work with, & results in a super soft & luxurious finished product. Alpaca has semi-hollow fibers that trap air & provide superb insulation, even when wet. Tencel is a plant fiber that adds a lovely sheen, strength, & additional softness. Merino wool, another high performance gift from nature grown by Merino sheep is much finer & softer than regular wool & very much a compliment to the other fibers. This yarn is processed in Peru, where alpaca has become a national treasure & an animal that the citizens hold dear to their identities.
