Built on a high rock over 200 feet above sea level, Manarola is one of the most charming and romantic of the Cinque Terre villages in northern Italy. The tiny harbor features a boat ramp, picturesque multicolored houses facing the sea, a tiny piazza with seafood restaurants. The village is all ups and downs, with steep narrow alleys carrugi, leading to the sea so from a distance, the houses look as if they are all joined together. A the top of Manarola is a church that today serves as a religious and community meeting place, but in more ancient times, the bell tower was used as a post to watch for potential pirate raids. This spectacular sunset image of Manarola is a nice puzzle with the multicolored sky behind the village and the lights on the shore providing some contrast. There are challenging parts to be sure; the dark blue of the ocean and the dark gray of the rock coast. But there is enough color contrast and different shapes to make this puzzle a wonderful experience. In the end, you have a beautiful picture of one of the most unique village on earth.
