Labradorite is a member of the Feldspar family & is treasured for its remarkable play of color, known as labradorescence (Schiller Effect). It was first identified in Labrador, Canada in 1770 by a Moravian missionary. The stone, usually gray-green, dark gray, black or grayish-white, is composed in aggregate layers that refract light as iridescent flashes of peacock blue, gold, pale green, or coppery red. Many people believe Labradorite has healing properties; I just know it is a gorgeous semi-precious stone! This gorgeous size 8 ring is set in Sterling Silver & is hallmarked .925 inside the shank. The mounting measures 26mm (approximately 1") long & 19mm wide; the cabochon itself measures 24mm x 15mm. The rope edge bezel is accented by a split shank which measures 4.5mm wide. Sterling silver does not like salt water or the chemicals in hot tubs so you may want to avoid wearing your ring in those environments. Even prolonged wearing in the shower will eventually dull the stone & silver with soap residue. Sterling Silver tarnishes when just laying around on your dresser so store in a ziplock with the 3M Anti-Tarnish Tab that comes with the ring.
