When two boys find a dead man, murdered gangland style, lying in weeds on their father’s farm, a chain of events take place that pulls small town Deputy Sheriff Buster Thornton into an international conspiracy which threatens to drag the United States into another Mid-East confrontation. When thousands of cattle, being fattened for market in huge feedlots in the Texas Panhandle, start to die from a mysterious virus, Buster’s murder investigation becomes intertwined with the FBI’s investigation of a terrorist strike against the nation’s food supply. Buster brings the tactics of the old west lawman into play as he follows clues in Las Vegas, Chicago, and Washinton, D.C.
