Jade Chinese Zodiac Animal Earrings Hand carved vintage/antique Jade. Each one is slightly different, they all measure around 1.25 long not including hook. Please read below to find out where my vintage Jade is sourced: My great-aunt was a gemologist, I called her Auntie B (for Belle). We lived next door to her when I was a child & she was my best friend. She taught me about gems & minerals & often I worked the gem & mineral shows with her. When she was diagnosed with alzheimer’s I was put in charge of cleaning up her estate. As a jewelry, gemologist & hoarder, she had boxes piled to the ceiling of amazing things. She collected from the 40’s to the 80’s & during that time her brother lived in China. She would often visit him & bring back massive quantities of Jade. All of the Jade, & many of the other gem pieces in my shop, are from her collection. Some of the pieces were already made up (by her) & some of the pieces have been made by me. I’m not an expert on Jade so I can’t attest to weather it’s been dyed & I don’t know how to grade it. My prices are based on design, attention to detail, & quality. Pieces that have been intricately hand carved are typically high quality jade, because so much time & effort has been put into them. I do not use solid sterling or gold findings & chains, but some of them may be plated. Most of the findings & chains are also vintage & from her collection.
